Hi, I'm a 66-year-old self-taught artist living on the beautiful Gold Coast in Australia—just a three-minute walk from the ocean. After a long and varied career—10 years as an electrician, 10 years as a police officer, and 25 years as a lawyer—I retired four years ago and found myself wondering what to do with all this free time.

My wife, Lynne, was chasing her dream of earning a psychology degree, so while she studied, I tried to stay out of her hair. That led me to pick up a paintbrush for the first time in my life. I never had an interest in art growing up or throughout my working life, but something clicked. I started learning through YouTube videos and free online workshops, and eventually joined the 'Learn to Paint Academy' run by Australian landscape artist Rod Moore.

I started with acrylics and now work primarily in oils, focusing on impressionist-style landscapes. I'm still early in my painting journey, but I’m passionate about it and steadily improving. My goal is to start selling my work before the end of the year and launch a YouTube channel to document my progress and share what I learn along the way.
